Tracing the evolution of jazz through a social studies lens, students will examine the cultural and political influences that developed the sound as it traveled north with the Great Migration. They will develop their understanding of music by practicing the fundamentals of jazz. In the 10 session model, students will have the opportunity to design their own jazz club based on their new knowledge of the art form and culture.
