Set in the jazzy 1920s, this vibrant two-actor play introduces kids to the Harlem Renaissance through the eyes of real-life historical figure Lillian Harris Dean. Known as Pigfoot Mary, she was a groundbreaking entrepreneur who ran a popular Harlem food stand. Grades 5–12 will learn about the artistic, cultural and social impact of the era with Mary and her fictional customers — inspired by Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston and Marcus Garvey.
