These two-hour intensive workshops are designed to introduce participants to an art form in a fun and creative way.
Each workshop is an opportunity for students to imagine, create and participate in a mini artistic process. These workshops serve as a basis for teachers to continue exploring the art form in their classrooms using the tools and techniques introduced.
Reimagine the Story/Painting/World Dance
Grades: K – 5
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts, Health and Physical Education, Social and Emotional Development, Social Studies, Theater
Using your performing artist tools of body, expression and imagination, students will engage with an art form to explore, question and create. Using the arts as a doorway, students will use their creativity to reimagine works of art, stories or music and explore a whole new world.
Creating Character
Grades: 3 – 12
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts, Social and Emotional Development, Social Studies, Theater
Actors can be inspired to create a character from anything – a hat, a piece of trash or even their favorite color. During this workshop, students will explore their own creativity as they build interesting characters.
Improv
Grades: 3 – 12

“Yes, And!” One of the main tenets of improv and the basis of this workshop will have students up on their feet and using their imagination as they develop the skills of active listening, quick thinking and spontaneous play
Lift Every Voice
Grades: 3 – 12
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts, Music, Social and Emotional Development, Social Studies
Explore the rich history and cultural significance of “Lift Every Voice,” highlighting its influence during the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights Movement. Participants will engage in vocal training, creative expression and connect with themes of resilience, hope and African American experiences.
Hip Hop Arts & Culture
Grades: 5 – 12

Navigate a hip hop journey that introduces the elements of creative and authentic expression. In this workshop, students will gain a better understanding of self and others as they develop an appreciation for hip hop art, culture and contributions through one of three hip hop elements (graffiti, dance or emceeing).
